Amanda Fung - Job Interview

First of all, I really want to thank our teacher to give us this test. I had a chance to learn more job interview skills. In these two weeks, I learned how to prepare for job interviews, such as how to write a cover letter and resume. I also learned how to fill out an application form, to appropriately respond during an interview, and to follow up after the interview. Also I had a chance to practice with classmates many times. Even though I learned from other teachers before, I learned more details this time. Before the test, I practiced many times at home. Although I felt nervous during the test, I think I will feel much better in the future. Even though I don’t need to get a job right now, maybe it can help me to get a job for the future. It was a good experience in my life.

I would recommend this to others classes because it can help us improve our skills and conversations. It can also help us improve our confidence. Don't miss the chance.

Evelyn Gabriela Gonzalez Job Interview

Well I didn’t take the interview test because I went to work, but I practiced in
Class and it was really good. It helped to develop my vocabulary and my English skills, and also I learned how to have good eye contact and good shake hands and how to fill out applications and also I learned to have a positive attitude. I really liked to learn this because is very important for jobs. It has helped me a lot. I know a lot of things that I didn’t know before.

I would recommend this to others classes because they might not know this kind
of stuff and is very important to success in life this is very important for everyone not just for some people. As I said before I could not be in the interview test because I had to go to work, but I had learned a lot now I’m not shy anymore I’m believe more in myself and that’s the most important thing.

Stella----Reaction about the job interview

I had studied how to interview and filled out a job application form on last two weeks. It is useful and helpful. After we studied it and teacher gave us a test. I fell a little bit nervous during the test. But I learned some experience about the interview. So when I go to the real interview. I know how to handle the anxiety. I like this kind of projects. I hope the other class does the same way as my teacher do.

Li Li Chang - Job interview

I got a great interview on last Friday. I am a participant. Every different subject I like very much because different subject help me a lot. My English is not perfect. I like practice to get my English better and no mistake. I practiced at home. I could answer questions very well. Even though, I practiced a lot during the interview I got some mistake with pronunciation. I knew this is for practice but I am also got little nervous.

Bay the way, I think these questions are easy for me. I had already had real job interview before I got this job interview practice. I have this experience and I know how to answer questions make it perfect. Also, I know how to fill in the applicant form. You teach us how to make resume perfect. Nobody wants to get mistake on the resume and how to shows our strengths. That is great.

Alfred Tsang - Job interview

Last Thursday and Friday, I was absent at City College because I needed to work at hotel. So I didn't take the job interview test. I am very like to take the interview and application test because I am bad at speaking and listening. I also always have a little nervous when I go to interview, include for job or for school. I want to learn more about this kind of practical in class to improve my interview skill.

I would like to recommend that I have other classes go through the test because everyone wants to practice more about this job interview. I think this good for us to find a good job.

Money Essay

Some people say, “The easiest way for your children to learn about money is for you not to have any.” I think this means if you have much more money, your children won’t learn about money, they don’t know money doesn’t grow on trees. But if you don’t have more money, they will learn about money, they will know what are the money come from, how hard I work for money, they will totally realized there is no pain no gain. Therefore, I completely agree with this quote.

There are many reasons why I agree with this quote. First, my family is not very rich, but I got plenty of allowance before I came to the United States. I spent money like a water when I in China, I was shopping a lot. And, most of times I treated friends when we ate out. I never knew how hard my father worked to money. But since I came to the United States, I have to learn to how to working in a company and how to get along with others. Finally I realized there is no pain no gain, money doesn’t grow on trees, how hard we got money from work. Another reason, I’ve got into the habit of buying something that I don’t really need it. It’s become my second nature, it’s also hard for me to quit this kind of habit. Anyway, I will try my best to break this habit, and make a monthly budget.

In conclusion, I believe the “Easiest way for your children to learn about money is for you not to have any”. Trust me, I am a good example for this quote.

Li Li Chang - Time is money

“Time is money,” is a famous quote. It means don’t waste the time. The time that is lost and never comes back. I strongly agree with this quote. Maybe people can get surgery to look young but inside our heart is still old. Never make us too late regret it.

First, time is very important. When I was young, I didn’t do my homework on time. I wasn’t independent at that time. After school, I watched TV and played with my neighbors. I wasted time a lot. When it was near bedtime. I realize that my homework wasn’t finished. My brothers helped me do the homework. This used to be very bad. Second, time that is lost and never comes back. Likes the elderly can’t appear to the child’s appearance. That is impossible. No one can return to young. Then, my parents told me” Time is money,” don’t waste the time. Don’t make you repent when you grow up. So after that time I tried to do anything fast and learn fast too. I wanted to have more time to use. If I had magic, I would change twenty-four hours to forty-eight hours a day. I am so happy my parents told me and taught me. Let me know people must grip time to study and do a good job.

In conclusion, time is very important in my mind. Nobody can buy time. Everybody will get old day by day and time won’t wait for you. If I had high education, I would get a better job and make more money in my life. Who says time is not money? I’ll disagree with that. I follow that my parents taught me then I taught my daughter too. Time is money, money, money…….

Money Essay

There is a famous quote, “Time is Money.” I think this means time can let you make money. Or if you had time, you would make money. I completely agree with this quote.

There are many reasons why I agree with this quote. First, when I want to make money, I need to pay hours to study some skills, and get a certificate. For example, I paid 20 hours to learn how to drive, and 30 bucks each hour, passed the road test, got a driver license. If I have to learn over 20 hours, I need to pay more money. Therefore, if I save minutes, I save a dollar.

Second, time is the same for everyone; second, minute, and hour, no one can have sixty-one seconds a minute. If you had more hours, you would make more money. For example, I need to take care of my child, go to school and work for a part time job, if I have more hours, I will apply to work more hours, or change the part time to full time. It makes money. For this reason, if you have more hours, you have more money.

Third, one year just has three hundred and sixty-five days. If you have a plan to upgrade yourself. It means you make money. For example, if you get an A.A. degree, you almost need to go to college for two years, if you want upgrade to a B.A. degree; usually you need to go to university for four years. In our work place, the rule is different degrees have different salary. Thus, plan your time to have more money.

In conclusion, time is equal for everyone, depends on how to use it. If you have a good plan, finish it on time. You will save dollar or make money.

Do you want to feel rich? - Amanda Fung

Some people say, “If you want to feel rich, just count the things you have that money can’t buy.” This means money can’t buy everything. Richness is not equal to how many assets you have. I totally agree with this quote.

There are many reasons why I agree with this quote. First, money is important and is very useful to buy things, but it only can buy actual things to satisfy people’s wish. Money can’t buy feelings, such as real love, helpfulness, friendship and happiness. Although, I didn’t come from a rich family, I was still happy growing up because I have a nice family. We love each other very much. We share our happy or unhappy things, and also we will help each other when we need help. Even though I don’t have money to help my family, I have time to help them. Now, we are not living together but we have family days and we keep in touch. We are very close. We enjoy the feeling. Second, if I have more time, I will do some volunteer work to help people in need and make them happy. Third, I sponsored some children in China. Even these sponsored children includes money but also are dependent on love and help. Also, money can’t buy friendship too.

In conclusion, if you want to be rich, you must find a real love and care. If you owned money, real love, helpful, friendship and happiness, you would be a successful person. Of course you must have a healthy life too. That would have to enrich your life very much.

Alfred Tsang - Money can't buy love

Can money buy love? I think that money can’t buy love. I’m not rich but I have a very happy family. My wife and I had been dating for about six years before we got married. We love each other very much. In our relatives, everyone said we are the perfect couple.

My wife and I with my children came here from Hong Kong. We have lived in a small apartment in Chinatown in San Francisco since we came here. But we feel very happy living with each other. Now I have an on call job at a great hotel as a house person. If I don’t need to work, I go to school to study English. I enjoy the class very much and learn a lot. Especially, I don’t need to pay any money to study English at City College. My English is getting better everyday. My wife also works in a hotel as a room attendant. After class or work, we need to do the everyday chores, such as cooking dinner, washing dishes, mopping and cleaning kitchen. We are tired but happy. We truly enjoy our lives. On the other hand, Some Hong Kong actresses marry millionaires. Finally, most of them always argue and get divorced after a short time. Well, like I said, money can’t buy love.

In conclusion, there is a famous quote “Money makes the world go around.” I completely agree with this quote. People need money to do anything. Now everything in our family is okay. The U.S. is our home now, but I have a dream. If I have more money, I will travel all over the United States with my wife and learn more about American culture and history. And then I will buy a house for my family.

Pre-K teacher Stella

I am interested in being a Pre-K teacher. I like children. I had been a Preschool teacher for two years before I immigrated to the US. I had more than ten year’s local experience. I worked at San Francisco Airport at the Security checkpoints as a screener for four years. Also I worked at Lee Mah Electronics Company as a test operator for nine years. I am very good working with people, organizing, and I am bilingual. I like children and I have patience with children. I have studied English at City College since 2007. I have been studying child development program for the past two years. I hope it can help me to get a job in the future.

I'm interested in being a preschool teacher. I love to work with children. Different child has different temperament and personality. I want to learn more about children. Although I have two children, but I didn't have enough experience in this field yet. I have been learning about Child Development since 2007. I finished Child, Family and Community, Orient To Early Childhood Program. I'm learning about Child Growth And Development this semester.

I feel sorry for myself, because the busy life makes me forgot my dream already. I have a full-time job with good benefits and pay rate, even it is a hard work, but at this moment, I am very content with my current job, and I value it because it supports my life with money. I am interested in being an inspector and I believe I can do a good job. I am a room attendant at Holiday Inn Fisherman’s Wharf since 2007. I had already taken a Hospitality Service Training class at Career Resources Development Center before I got this job. In class, I learned hotel industry, housekeeping procedures, computer skills and English communication skills. I believe this training will help me do a good job at work. I am efficient, helpful and I am good with details. I work very fast and my work is excellent. I like to work as part of a team and I like to help people. I can clean the house and put things in order. I am good at organizing my work area.

Alfred Tsang - Supervisor in a great hotel

I am a house person for a great hotel. I am very interested in this job. I had completed the communication skills for Janitorial Workers and the Custodial Training Program at City College of San Francisco; I also had completed a Hospitality Service Training Course at CRDC before I got this job. I know how to use all kinds of cleaning equipment and learned about U.S. measurements and job safety. I also know housekeeping procedure. I am a fast learner and flexible. I am good at cleaning efficiently. I work well with other people, and I also can work independently.

Many things I like about my job. For example, I like helping my co-workers and greeting guests. Talking to co-workers, the supervisor and guests are interesting. Working at a hotel is great. Seeing guests come back again makes me happy. I want to learn more about the hotel industry. If possible, I would like to become a supervisor and have more responsibility.

I think being a good supervisor takes patience, and have hospitality. Of course, a good supervisor also must have good communication skills and including good listening skills.

I want to be a nurse assistant. This is a very good job for me because of my ability. There is a chance to move up and has good benefits. However, I love to take care of people. Even though, I haven't had any experience or skills in this field,but I had been a self-employee for two years in the U.S. Before that, I worked as a sales clerk for eight years in Hong Kong. The Job for Me


I am interested in being a designer. When I was young, I liked to draw designs of the interior of our home and I also liked hair styling and fashion designing. If I went to someone's house, I would enjoy to see how they designed their house and what colors they used. Usually I will practice when our family moved to a new house. I will give them some ideas. This was a good way for me to practice my skill. Even when I went to a salon, I would see how they styled hair, highlighted, and dyed. I always did hair cuts for my family when they were young. I also liked to make clothes. I created some ideas to make similar styles of clothes to be different. I had a training course for six months. Now, I'm looking for a training course about basic skill of design and I'm also planning to go to credit classes later because I want to fulfill my dream. I hope it can help me to get a job for the future.

I am interested in being a nurse, an excellent nurse. I am patient, organized, responsible, and careful and a good team worker. Actually, when I was in high school, I was good at biology and chemistry. I have dreamed to be a medical provider since that time. As a medical provider, you can help a lot of people with their disease. Even I still don’t have any skills in this field; I am planning to take a CMA training program.
